SOUL RUNNER: The first film in the Archangel trilogy

Soul Runner      released the summer of 2014

Greg and Tom discuss the Feature Film SOUL RUNNER  along with other cinematic influences. A wonderful rambling discussion of film and SciFi concepts both real and fantastical. Join your hosts on a seemingly never ending discussion of the practical importance neither of them can fully understand.

Michael is in search of his Grandfather who is the creator of the Oswa Drive which is what enables a ship to warp space and travel to the distant stars.

Michael starts his search in old New Orleans protected by large flood gates from the risen seas. He consults the Soul Archive a data storage of the thoughts and memories of the dead.

Each time he enters a Soul Archive to speak to the dead leads the world within seems calm and quiet. The real world is a full of visual and auditory distractions and seems to grow more complex and a subtle background noise as the story goes on. So that each time he enters the church like confines of the Soul Archives its evident. (Oscar nominated for sound design)

Michael is a Sun runner. He races in contests within the solar system in sophisticated ships with modified Oswa drives that let you hang in real space right before the warp is created racing in the outer jovian planets between Jupiter and Neptune.  A sublight race with a tricky human controlled flicker of the powerful Oswa engine to keep your ship in real space and go the fastest from Jupiter to Saturn.    The races are sponsored by the ship makers and Osaw warp engine makers.

As he races, he discovers fluctuations in the Oswa drive that shouldn’t be there, and in the final race with his nemesis, loses all power and then miraculously it come back with a surge of energy that can’t be explained even by the best Oswa physicists.

This is Sean Connery’s last movie, NOT the League of Extraordinary Gentleman, as many believe.  He plays the grandfather, who we see in various flashbacks, but whose voice Michael thinks he hears from time to time when he is racing.

SOUL RUNNER   A  Universe 2  release of an Oswan Pictures Production  with minimal funding from K Mesler partners (so they don’t loose their shirts in foreign markets)
